Recent buys $ACO.X $ATD.B $CUF.UN

Like I said last time, I have been quite busy working these past couple of weeks. Gotta earn it before you can invest it, right? With Mr Market being more cooperative with value investors I still managed to find some time to make a few small buys along the way.

ATCO (ACO.X)

(more on ATCO here)

On May 4th, I added 15 shares of my fairly new acquisition of ATCO. @ 44.02$ a share, the total cost was 670. 25$

I now own 80 shares of ATCO. My average cost per share is 46. 91$.

I might buy some more if the stock goes below 40$.

These 15 new shares add 14.85 $ to my annual dividend income.

Alimentation Couche-Tard (ATD.B)

Couche-Tard is a convenience store operator in the United States, Europe and Canada. It operates its convenience store and road transportation fuel retailing chain under several banners. Its network comprised 6,207 convenience stores throughout North America, including 4,698 stores with road transportation fuel dispensing.

This company has been a real rocket. The only downside, the meagre dividend. But the price of this stock as doubled ans tripled these past couple of years. I thought I had bought it too late at 29$ in July 2014... The stock price is now 46 $.

On May 6th, I bought 15 shares of ATD.B at 45.50$ for a total cost of 692.45$

I now own 60 shares of Couche-Tard. My average cost per share is 37.84$.

I might buy some more if the stock goes below 42$.

These 15 new shares add 3$ to my annual dividend income.

Cominar REIT (CUF.UN)

(more on Cominar here)

REIT's in general have taken a beatdown lately. I thought the timing was right to add a few units of Cominar.

On May 11th, I bought 30 units of CUF.UN at 18.57$ for a total cost of 567.05$

I now own 150 Units of Cominar. My average cost per share is 18.63$

I might buy some more if the stock goes below 18$.

These 30 new shares add 44.10$ to my annual dividend income.

My Portfolio has been updated as well as my Passive Income Page.

What do you think of my latest buys? Did you make a move yourself?

  1. Nice buy on Cominar. I am also fellow unit holder in Cominar. I have owned the REIT for a few years ago, as I was a unitholder in Canmarq REIT. Cominar acquired Canmarq and acquired shares in Cominar as a result.

    1. Hello Investing Pursuits,

Thanks. Yeah, I like Cominar too. When it comes to REIT, I think you might as well buy units in companies you know and the buildings they own you see pretty much every day. Hence CUF.UN. It's a keeper.

      Thanks for coming by.

  2. Nice purchases, MD. I looked at ATD a few months ago and thought it was quite pricey for my taste...I have to look at the financials again.

    Best wishes

    1. Hey R2R,

ATD.B. is a catch. It's a dividend growth company in the making, in my opinion. But, I agree, that the stock price is a little high at the moment. I bought some because it fell 10% off its highest year price and because I already had a price-average relatively low.

      Thanks again for coming by.

  3. Great buys MD. I like them all. If Atco drops further I will invest but I just recently bought Canadian utilities. Alimentary on couche yard is a recession proof stock. I like heir business model. When the time comes I'm gonna load up on it.
Thanks for sharing and take care bud.

    1. Hey Dividend Hustler!

Thanks. ATCO is a company I grew very fond of. I will buy some more for sure. Same with ATD.B. Mr Market sure looks like he will give us that opportunities in the coming months. Patience is key.

      Thanks for passing by!

  4. Hum, I didn't check upon ATD recently but I too have the impression it's overvalued. Did you perform an analysis on it lately?

    Cheers!

  5. Hey Div Guy,

I perform analysis when I first buy a stock. After that I make sure the fundamentals don't change and I buy when the stock drops from its 10% year-high.

I think I have a Graham price of around 28$... so it's pricey in that regard. But it's got a lot of potential so I don't mind buying it a little bit higher than usual.

    Thanks for coming Mike!
